Ammar al-Hakim and Haider al-Abadi form joint list for Iraqi elections
National Wisdom Movement (Al-Hikma) leader Ammar al-Hakim and Victory Alliance (Nasr) leader Haidar al-Abadi on Sunday, May 2, announced that they would for a joint list for the purposes of Iraq’s October parliamentary election, running as the National State Forces list.
Al-Hakim will serve as the head of the grouping, NRT reported.
Both are largely Shia parties.
May 1 was the deadline for political parties and coalitions to register to run in the election, which is scheduled for October 10.
