Iraqi army asks PKK to leave Shingal

The commander of Izad Khan Defense Forces in Shingal (affiliated to the Kurdistan Regional Government) announced that the Iraqi army has asked the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) to withdraw its forces from Shingal until April 1.

According to the Sulaimani news network, Haidar Shasho told the Iraqi media that the Iraqi army has asked the PKK to withdraw their forces from the city of Shingal until April 1, and "if they refuse to comply with this request by that date, the Iraqi army will force them to do so."

Haider Shasho added: "The PKK-affiliated forces who are stationed in government centers in Shingal have set conditions for leaving these centers; the most obvious of which is "the transfer of their forces to the Iraqi army and police, and negotiating are still ongoing in this regard."

The commander of Izad Khan forces also announced that the Iraqi government insists on implementing the Shingal agreement and the withdrawal of unofficial forces from the city and its surrounding heights.
