UN envoy to Iraq meets Massoud Barzani
Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, UN Special Representative for Iraq, met with Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Leader Massoud Barzani in Erbil the capital of Kurdistan Region.
The challenges facing the Iraqi political process were also discussed in the meeting.
According to the statement, during the meeting, Barzani briefed Hennis-Plasschaerto his views and considerations on the upcoming elections in Iraq, as well as the election law.
The statement from Massoud Barzani's office also said that the recent visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kazemi to the Kurdistan Region was positive.
The two officials also stressed the need to improve the situation in the Shengal region in order to allow Yazidis to return to their homes.
