U.S. forces to stay in Syria: defense minister
The U.S. Minister of Defense, James Mattis has stated that the troops of the country in Syria would not leave the war-torn state before a diplomatic solution is found for the state, adding that U.S. president has put aside his decision to withdraw the forces.
U.S President Donald Trump had stated a month earlier that Washington is to call home 2000 forces from Syria. Some U.S. military officials have, however, reiterated that the forces would not leave the country and will stay in the regions that are under the control of the Kurdish forces.
According to Reuters Mattis told a press conference on Monday that the U.S. forces in Syria and Afghanistan are not to leave the countries before a diplomatic solution is found.
According to Military.com website, Mattis told defense ministry reporters, while microphones had been switched off, that Trump has changed his mind in calling back the forces in a near future.
