Turkey seeking to divide Kurdistan Region, PUK leader says
A leading member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) claimed Turkey is trying to divide Kurdistan Region into two regions of Erbil and Sulaimani.
Ghayas Sorchi stated Turkey's attempt in prohibiting flights into Sulaimani airport is an effort to divide the region.
Sorchi told Baghdad al-Yaum that the prevention of flights into Sulaimani airport is an attempt to weaken Kurdistan region and ultimetely divide it.
Sorchi stressed that the fighters of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) have withdrawn from Shingal Mountain and there is no PKK member in the region, revealing that all PKK forces have been setteled in Qandil Mountains near Sulaimani.
