Ammar al-Hakim warns about more Baghdad- Erbil tensions
The Leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement (Tayar al-Hikmah al-Watani) Ammar al-Hakim said on Wednesday, June 5, that the problem of the disputed area should be resolved between Erbil and Baghdad as soon as possible, warning of further flare-up.
Al-Hakim said in a sermon to the audience during the praying of Eid al-Fitr in Baghdad that the ties between the Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi government, the issues of oil and the disputes areas should be resolved in accordance with the Iraqi Constitution, NRT reported.
“The problems between Erbil and Baghdad escalated if they were not resolved soon, “he said by signaling “which would be a threat to the integrity of the Iraqi soil.”
Al-Hakim also stressed both sides should convene in the near future, reorganize their relations and resolve their problems.
