Nechirvan Barzani, UN envoy meet in Erbil

Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani met with US Consul-General Steven Fagin on Monday, January 7, in Erbil.

The discussion focused on how to continue developing bilateral ties between the Kurdistan Region and the United States, according to a statement released by the KRG.
“They also talked about the economic and political situation in the Kurdistan Region and the conditions of refugees and internally displaced persons. Additionally, they discussed the latest attempts to form a new government and developments in relations between Erbil and Baghdad,” the statement added.
According to NRT the statement added Fagin praised the Kurdistan Region for its commitment to tolerance and mutual co-existence.
They also discussed broader regional trends in the Middle East.
