Erbil- Rosneft oil deal against Iraqi constitution: Iraq envoy to Moscow
Iraq ambassador to Moscow blamed Erbil oil deal with Russia Rosneft as illegal and against Iraq’s constitution, reiterating that only the Iraqi government in Baghdad is constitutionally allowed to sign oil deals with foreign companies.
According to NRT, Haider Azari told a press conference that oil deals have been made between Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region, and Rosneft both this year and last year and they are against the law “as the constitution only permits Baghdad to sign deal with foreign companies.”
