New Iraqi FM stresses on continued cooperation and improved ties with Egypt
According to Al-Sumaria News the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday afternoon that Hussein received a telephone call from his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shukri.
According to the statement, the Egyptian foreign minister congratulated the new Iraqi FM on the occasion of his election by the country’s parliament.
For his part, Hussein stressed on deepening ties between Iraq and Egypt, the importance of continuing cooperation to achieve the aspirations of the two nations and to open broader perspectives between the two countries in various fields to promote ties in the interest of the common interests.
It is worth mentioning that Iraqi parliament voted last Saturday for the proposed ministers of the new Prime Minister Mustafa Kazemi, to fill all the remaining ministries of his cabinet, including Fouad Hussein and Salar Abdul Sattar, Kurdish candidates for the foreign affairs and justice ministries. The ministers took the oath before the parliament’s Presidency Committee and the new federal government was formed nearly one month after the parliament voted for the other 15 candidates.
