Iran, UK ties based on mutual respect: FM spokesman
“Today's Iran is not the Iran of a few decades ago, we have passed the 1970s and our relations with other governments are devised and administered in accordance with our own principles,” said Bahram Qasemi, answering a question regarding UK's past animosities and oppressions against Iran.
Qasemi said, “Certainly one of our conditions is mutual respect and abstaining from interfering in other countries' affairs; the UK is no exception. We can have reasonable relations with the UK and other countries in the mentioned framework.”
He added that Tehran-London relations have had ups and downs in the past and hoped that London would take more positive and plausible steps toward bilateral cooperation.
