US Pompeo holds phone call with Nechirvan Barzani, Haider al-Abadi
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held separate phone talks with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Ministe Nechirvan Barzani and Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, US Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Pompeo discussed the latest Kurdistan Region and Iraq deveopments with the two PMs on Tuesday August 15.
Pompeo has hailed the two leadrs' efforts for paving way to quell flames of tension between Erbil and Baghdad, the statement added.
Pompeo, according to the statement, has appreciated the recent joint Peshmerga operation with Iraqi forces against the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq.
