PUK to soothe relations with opposition

Sulaymaniyah- The Kurdistan Region’s co- ruling party of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) is seeking to assuage its relations with the opposition parties of the region, the mouth piece the party, PUK media, reported.

Soothing relations with the opposition parties was one of the main topics discussed in a meeting held in the presence of PUK deputy leader Barham Salih and some high ranking officials among them Kosrat Rasul Ali.

The meeting also discussed latest Kurdistan and original political developments as well as latest relations between Arbil and Baghdad that are at odds over diverse issues including land and oil disputes.

The officials also welcomed the negotiations between Kurdistan Region Peshmerga forces and Iraqi army that concluded in the later’s retreat from Zumer and other disputed regions.

The meeting, held in the absence of the party’s leader Jalal Talabani as he is receiving treatment in Germany, also voiced its concern over division among Syria Kurdish parties and announced their support of the agreement signed between the Syrian Kurdish lines supervised by the region’s president Massoud Barzani in Arbil.
