Syrian rebels deadline to Assad
Damascus- Syrian armed rebels on Wednesday give President Bashar al-Assad a 48-hour (till Friday 9:00) deadline to implement UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan’s plan for ending violence in Syria.
Backed by Arab and western countries, the Syrian Free Army warned it would take decisions if the deadline is not met.
Releasing a statement the rebels said if the deadline is not met they would not be committed to Annan plan any longer.
There is currently a truce brokered by Annan on April 12 between the rebels and Syrian government.
United Nation’s monitors are currently in Syria and are closely considering the situation and Syria government has vowed to cooperate with the monitors.
UN monitors statement has expressed their concerns about Syria situation meanwhile stressed rebels have not been firm on the signed truce.
Tensions in Syria stoke more on May 26 after 100 civilians, most of them children, were killed in central town of Houla.
Both Syria government and the rebels accused each other of committing the mass killing.
