Iraq criticized Kurdistan Region oil export to Turkey
Baghdad- Iraq’s government said crude oil exporting from the autonomous Kurdistan Region in the country into Turkey is “illegal” and threatened to take “appropriate action” in the face of the move.

“This is an illegal and unconstitutional business that we will take the right decision against,” Wall Street Journal quoted Faisal Abdullah, spokesman for Deputy prime minister for Energy Hussein al-Shahristani on Monday.

Abdullah said Iraqi oil ministry solely has the right to export crude oil gas or oil products to other countries.

Stating it has been forced into exporting crude oil to Turkey because Baghdad sends insufficient oil products to meet Kurdistan Regions needs; Arbil government said it has begun exporting oil to Turkey by trucks without the permission of the central government.

A source familiar with Kurdistan oil exports said currently four trucks a day are carrying crude oil into Turkey.

KRG says the exported crude oil is sent to Turkey to be refined and sent back for local consumption.
