Talabani declines he offered withdrawing confidence from Maliki
Baghdad- Iraqi presidency office denied main opposition al-Iraqiya List Leader Iyad Allawi’s claim that President Jalal Talabani has offered withdrawing confidence from the premier.

Releasing a statement, Talabani’s office rejected Allawi’s claim in al-Hayat daily that the Iraqi President has offered withdrawing confidence from Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in Arbil meeting on April 24.

The statement has expressed its surprise about such statements and criticized it as being “far from reality and a blow to political ethics.” 

The statement further adds Talabani not only has not signed Maliki’s withdrawal vote project but has also asked Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) officials not to sign it.

The statement further adds that the withdrawing proposal was due to be sent to National Alliance and then pursues if asked reforms were not made by the premier.

After Maliki withdrawal confidence attempt failed as the number of needed signatures were less than 163- the needed signatures to vote Maliki out of office- some Iraqi officials among them Iyad Allawi pointed accusation finger at Talabani and criticized his policies.
