KDP seeks two-year presidential term extension for delaying referendum vote
The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has submitted a proposal seeking another two-year presidential term for Masoud Barzani as well as delay in the parliament election in return for postponing the referendum vote on the Kurdistan independence.

A source who attended a recent meeting between Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and Change Movement (Gorran) said that the KDP could consider postponing the referendum in return for delay in presidential and parliament elections, NRT reported.

The KDP has submitted the proposal to the PUK for which it has received the PUK’s willingness.

During a meeting held on Tuesday between PUK and Gorran, the PUK expressed its position in favor of delaying the independence referendum and urged Gorran to agree on the concessions which the KDP sought, the source told NRT.

Following their meeting in Sulaimani, Gorran and PUK released no statement about the bilateral discussions.
