Kurds would postpone referendum if Baghdad sets new date: official
A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) stated that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) would hold the September 25 referendum in all the regions that there are under the control of Peshmerga.

Shakhawan Abdullah told AIN al-Iraq News that a delegation from the Iraqi National Coalition is to make a visit to Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region, calling the recent visit of a Kurdish delegation to Baghdad successful.

Abdullah also noted officials from the coalition have not asked the Kurdish region to postpone its referendum, planned for September 25, but it is a request from some regional states and world powers which have asked the region to call of the referendum.

Stating that the referendum can be postpones in the case that Baghdad sets a date for the voting, he added if the new date is not set the referendum will be held in the region, including the disputed areas.
