Despite Baghdad- Erbil talks KRG won’t postpone referendum fate: official
A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) stated that Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) would not postpone its scheduled referendum despite the visit of a Kurdish delegation from Baghdad last week, calling the referendum a democratic right of the people of the region.

Sarhan Ahmed told al-Malomeh news agency that the Kurdish delegation discussed future ties between Erbil, the capital of the Kurdish region, and the central government in Baghdad as well as bilateral economic and security ties.

He reiterated that the planned development of the region is a natural and democratic process and it is the right of the people in the region to hold it, reiterating that the referendum is not against the Iraqi constitution.

Ahmed underlined that the right of people in Kurdistan has not come true in the successive government of Iraq and more than 55 Iraqi constructional articles have not been set into action.
