Holding referendum in disputed regions is unconstitutional: deputy
Kirkuk province deputy in the Iraqi parliament stated that the planned referendum of Kurdistan Region is unconstitutional in the disputed regions of Iraq.

Khalid al-Mafraji told AIN al-Iraq news agency that Arabs and Turkmans are against Kurdistan Region’s fait accompli against Baghdad to hold the scheduled referendum in the disputed regions of the country, adding that the referendum is illegal in the disputed regions which both Baghdad and Erbil claim authority over.

Reiterating that the referendum would pave the way for foreign interventions as there are local, Arabic, regional and international oppositions against the effort, he added Kurdistani parties understand the negative impacts of holding the referendum on the region.
