Kurdish delegation is not to win Baghdad’s accord to referendum: deputy
A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) stated that a delegation from the Kurdistan Region is to visit Baghdad, clarifying that the aim of the delegation is not to satisfy the central government of Iraq to accord with the Kurdish region’s planned referendum.

Dana Jaza told Baghdad al-Yawm news base that a Kurdish delegation is to visit Baghdad next week, adding that it is seeking to discuss different issues with the central government in Baghdad, among them the planned referendum of the region set for September 25.

Reiterating that Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani is not a member of the delegation, Jaza added that many calls and messages are exchanged daily between Baghdad and Erbil and the aim of the messages is to make agreements between the two sides.

He further added that the people of the autonomous region are determined to hold the referendum despite Baghdad oppositions as the attempt is a legal right of the people of the region to decide their fate.
