Iran, Iraq enjoy firm ties: ambassador
Iran's ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjedi said on Wednesday that Iran and Iraq enjoy strong relations.

Making the remarks in a meeting with Iraqi provincial officials of Babel city on Wednesday, he stressed the fact that Iran-Iraq security is intertwined and “we are honored to stand by Iraqi government and people in fighting Daesh (IS) Takfiri group.”

He extended congratulations on Mosul liberation, saying Islamic Republic of Iran shares the happiness with Iraqis.

He pointed to launching reconstruction projects in Iraq, noting Iran will stand by Iraqis to reconstruct the country.

Mosul fell in June 2014, when the IS in an attack took control of the city. Iraqi forces launched the operation to retake Mosul on October 16, 2016.
