Syrian Kurds receive US weapons, vehicles via Iraq
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters in northern Syria received a batch of weapons and military vehicles from the United States, media reported on Tuesday.

According to Al Mayadeen broadcaster, the convoy with the weapons and vehicles arrived on Tuesday to Hasakah province via Iraq.

It comes a week after US Army Gen. Joseph Votel, who is the commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), visited Syria to meet the SDF heads, Sputnik reported.

He reportedly promised that the United States would strengthen the SDF forces in the fight against the IS terror group.

In November 2016, the SDF, predominately consisted of Kurdish fighters and forces from the Syrian Arab Coalition, launched an operation called the Wrath of Euphrates to seize control over Syrian Raqqa, de facto capital of the IS.
