Iran is interested in holding elections in Syria, Erdogan says
Ankara- Turkey Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdagan who visited Iran and had meetings with Tehran leaders said to reporters in his plane on the way back to Turkey that Tehran is interested in holding a free election in Syria and also likes to see an end to the year-long crisis in the country.

“I talked to Iranian President and he also likes Syria deaths end. Iran is also willing to see a free election in Syria where people can choose the person they like to head the country,” Erdogan said.

He added:” a ballot box should be place in front of Syrian people and they should decide who should lead their country.”

Iran can convince Syrian president Bashar al-Assad to hold elections within six months and Turkey can talk to the opposition, he added.

Erdogan said that Iran, the UN, Russia and America are the key actors in solving the crisis in Syria.

Erdogan also talked about trade relations between Tehran and Ankara and said that the current trade volume between the two countries is $16 billion and this volume can be increased in the future, Zaman daily reporetd.

Turkey Prime Minister accompanied by a delegation including foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu met with Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenehei, president Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad and Parliament speaker Ali Larijani and left the country later on Friday.
